Hearts on Fire (My Worship Composition)

This is one year in the making. And it took me 4 years to share it with you.  As I finished the song "Sing Out Loud", that was September 2021, and heard it being sang in a praise rally, thenafter, I was inspired to create another one but this time, it is more of a reflection song.

There are moments in life when words alone feel entirely too small to carry what’s in my soul. That is usually when music begins to take over. I am so excited and deeply humbled to share a piece of my heart with you today... an original worship song composition titled, "Hearts on Fire."

​This song didn’t come from a place of having it all together. Looking back at when these lyrics first came to life on September 10, 2022, it was born out of a quiet recognition of our human brokenness, contrasted with the overwhelming, transformative grace of a God who meets us right where we are.


​The Story Behind the Lyrics

​Writing this was a deeply reflective experience. It starts with a simple, honest posture: acknowledging that while we are broken and feel unworthy, we are invited to stand in His presence anyway because of who He is.

​Here are the words that God placed on my heart for this song:

​Verse:

Broken we are, healer You are

Unworthy to serve You, yet here we are.

​Refrain:

You've come to the world to set our hearts on Fire; thank You Jesus, healer, redeemer, savior of us all.

​Chorus:

Set our hearts on fire, burn it with Your love.

'Coz You called us by name, and felt Your Holy flame.

​Verse 2:

We are Your children, showered with Your grace,

zeal us all brethren, wanting your embrace.

​Coda:

We are one in You Lord, with one purpose and

One mission, setting our hearts burning with your love.


​What "Hearts on Fire" Means to Me

​At its core, this song is a prayer of surrender and unity.

  1. ​Finding Strength in Brokenness: The opening lines remind us that we don't have to clean ourselves up before coming to God. Our very brokenness is met by His healing hands.
  2. The Calling: The chorus speaks about being called by name. There is something profoundly personal about knowing that the Creator of the universe doesn't just see a crowd... He knows us, and His love has the power to ignite a holy flame within.
  3. ​Walking Together: As the second verse and coda unfold, the song shifts from an individual prayer to a collective community heartbeat. We are children showered in grace, bound together by "one purpose and one mission"... to keep our hearts burning with His love, united as brethren.


​As I write this story, I would like to end this with a prayer.

​If you are reading this today, my prayer is that these words resonate with whatever season you find yourself walking through. Whether you are feeling broken, weary, or simply longing to feel a fresh spark of His presence, may this song remind you that you are called by name, deeply loved, and never alone.
